A Study on Emotional Intelligence

As organizations continuously evolve, it is important to know who can lead and manage an organization to be effective, efficient, and productive. Managers with human skills are needed to help an organization mature and develop; just like a toddler needs a parent to help him or her mature and develop into an independent, sustainable, and self-sufficient adult.

STUDY ABOUT ORGANIZATION BEHAVIOR

Organizational behavior is the area of study dedicated to recognizing, planning and eventually developing the attitudes and behaviors of the people. OB is based upon scientific knowledge and applied practice. By the practitioners the “RED Analysis” has been applied.

Belal Kaifi and his colleague, Selaiman Noori, have completed a thorough study on the organizational behavior of teams, employees and managers. The study was been conducted on 100 managers and 200 employees from the same organization.

According to the study authors, “theoretically it is very important to understand why and how success is affected by the teamwork at the workplace.” It is vital for managers to understand whether teamwork affects employee performance, as it proxies synergy and cohesiveness. Th following are the hypotheses they have made:

•   Female employees contribute to team outcomes more than male employees. 
•   Female managers will have higher scores in valuing communication with employees. 
•   Female managers will have higher scores on becoming influenced by group think. 
•   Female employees will contribute to team outcomes more than male employees. 

The results revealed that female managers valued interaction with their groups more than their male counterparts. Companies that value interaction, responsibility, and visibility are the ones that are more effective. If female managers have a better understanding of the importance of interaction, then organizations may further benefit by choosing women to fill leadership positions.

There were certain limitations to this study, including the limited response of each group. This survey can also be combined with other more comprehensive instruments to confirm and enhance the outcomes. It may be advantageous to study the contribution to team outcomes that are made by female and male managers. Additionally, exploring the group can offer insight into gender differences within organizations.
